Here's a quick revision on tenses.

Present Tense

• to show habitul actions (I go to the barber once a month.)
• to state universal truth or general truths (Singapore is an island.)
• to show the immediate present (He lives near the school.)
• to indicate a fixed or planned future action (My plane leaves at 9 o'clock in the morning.)

Present Continuous Tense 

• to show that an action is going on at the time of speaking (Hurry up! We are waiting for you.)
• to indicate an action that is planned to take place in the future. (The parade is starting soon.)

Present Perfect Continuous Tense

• to show that an action which began in the past is still continuing or has just been completed (Carrie has been surfing the internet since four p.m.)
• look out for the word 'since' or 'for'
